Access Claims Information and Explanation of Benefits
- Log on to your insurance company website with your username and password
- Click on the “Claims” section
- You will see all your claims that have been processed. You will know what the doctor billed, what the insurance company allowed (the negotiated fee), and what the real costs were.
- While the cost of an office visit with a general practice physician may be $150, the contracted rate may be $65 to $80.
- For a specialist, the regular office visit fee might be $250, while the contracted rate you pay may only be $100 to $120.
- Note: It is fun to see how you save because of the negotiated fee.
